NİLHAN SESALAN
Sculpting since 1987, Nilhan Sesalan finished Mimar Sinan University
Faculty of Fine Arts with a Graduate Degree in Sculpture in the atelier
of Ali Teoman Germener (Aloş). Opened several exhibitions and
participated a number of symposiums in Germany, Japan, Greece, Romania,
Finland, France and many cities in Turkey. Worked as an art director for
documentaries, films and TV series. She was awarded the “Design of The
Year” for the project “İstanbul'da Oturmak-Lüferli Dubleks Sandalye/Living
In Istanbul – Blue Fish Duplex Chair" at Istanbul Design Week 2005.
Since 2000 the artist has took a liking to the idea of “a leaf is a
leaf in its relation to the tree but it is the tree at the same time”
believes that a “ piece” is in fact the “whole” and created a “different
kind of the chosen’ by rearranging the scrapings from her sculptures.
She continues her creations at her studio in Kuzguncuk, Istanbul.
