MERİÇ HIZAL
Born, Istanbul in 1943. Took art lessons from Eşref Üren in Ankara from
1971 to 1972. He studied at the ateliers of Şadi Çalık and Hüseyin Gezer
at the Istanbul State Faculty of Fine Arts, Sculpture Department from
1973 till his graduation in 1979. He worked with Françesco Somaini at
the Internationale Sommeracademie Für Bildende Kunst in Salzburg,
Avusturya in 1977; then in 1982 with François Debord at Ecole Nationale
Supérieur Des Beaux-Arts'da in Paris; and later in 1992, with Marcus
Lupertz and G.Titüs Carmel at Como Corso Superiore Di Disegno in Italy.
Opened 11
national and 2 international (Paris- Gallery Maison Mansard and
Thessalonica- Gallery Teloglion) personal exhibitions. Took part in the
1st Istanbul International Contemporary Art Exhibitions and 1st
International Contemporary Art Biennial - “Balkan Art” in Novi Sad,
Serbia. Received 14 awards such as 46th State Sculpture,
Sedat Simavi and Ankara Art Institution.
Tutored
at 15 Applied Sculpture Symposiums as far as Serbia, France, Israel,
Lebanon and Japan, created open-air sculptures.
