KEMAL TUFAN
Born, Silivri (Istanbul) in 1962the artist graduated from Istanbul
Technical University, Industrial Engineering in 1985 and then from Mimar
Sinan University Faculty of Fine Arts with a Degree in Sculpture in
1994.
He has
created a number of large-scale sculptures, attended exhibitions and
gave speeches in almost 30 countries around the globe. Since 2002 he is
the curator and organiser of International Büyükçekmece Sculpture
Symposium (Istanbul) and 2005-2007 International Yesemek Biennial. More
recently the artist has also taken interest to performances and video
art. In 2000 the Under-water Sculpture Project in Kaş, Turkey and
in 2002 the Under-Ice Sculpture Project in Sweden Lulea
Winter Biennial reflect this new direction.
The artist currently lives in Istanbul.
