I perceive sculptor Nilhan Sesalan as one of the most interesting pioneers of progressive modern sculpture. I first came across her works at the International Istanbul Sculpture Symposium. She certainly made an impression on me; passionate for life and her work in the name of art, a determined spirit, an expressionist, an outstanding artist of huge potential. She has extraordinary artistic talent that manages to transcend all the riches of her homeland into creativity. Realistic to a certain extent, but definitely not a portrayer of daily life. She has a planet, a philosophy of her own that she shares with us… Looking at the subject of her sculptures and the freshness and sincerity of her compositions it’s not difficult to feel the sculptors’ power. Always open to new experiences in plastic, the artist succeeds in reflecting the inclinations in her art with the materials she chooses. This short paragraph about the artist is only the tip of the iceberg; the depth of her work requires pages of writing.
